Suzette Franck

Hi DradCast team,

I have been doing web development and hand-coding for over 18 years, including surviving geocities, tables, font tags, and even before the rise of CSS. When I discovered WordPress 5 years ago, I became a total fan, as I could easily add advanced functionality quickly through other’s contributions of code through the community. So far, I have used WordPress to build over 200 custom websites in 3 years with different designs and requirements. I have been working with (mt) Media Temple for about 6 months as their WordPress Evangelist, and I am loving every minute of it.

Since this is a brand new position, I have really focused my attention on the community aspect of WordPress by attending 2-3 WordPress Meetups a week all over in Southern California, and I have spoken at 4 WordCamps so far: Phoenix, San Diego. Miami, and Reno, with plans to speak at 3 more in the month of June: Orange County, Seattle, and then Chicago. My topics include everything from Jetpack, Hosting and Domains, Plugin Basics, Optimizing WordPress for Shared Hosting, Using CSS3 in WordPress, Customizing Twenty Thirteen with Child Themes, Migrating WordPress, Membership Sites, Resources for Reaching Your WordPress Potential, Edit Flow, Advanced Custom Fields, and BuddyPress. Most of my presentation slides may be found at https://speakerdeck.com/suzettefranck.

I have also written articles on Jetpack and new WordPress releases as well as general WordPress Security, and I blog about the Meetups and WordCamps that I attend on my blog. I am also a regular presenter/speaker on WPwatercooler.com, WordPress Pasadena hosted by Alex Vasquez, Ventura WordPress by Glenn Bennett, Orange County WordPress by Steve, and I have also spoken at Topanga WordPress, Hollywood WordPress, OCWP Designers and Inland Empire WordPress. I am also very involved in WordPress on the social media networks, leveraging all avenues and media to get the word out about WordPress. I am also assisting in the organization of the 10th Anniversary Party of WordPress being held at Zeek this May 27th.

My overall goal here at (mt) Media Temple is to raise the WordPress awareness and keep everyone up-to-date on the latest WordPress developments, and help developers and designers to achieve their web development goals. In the short-term, I will be helping to develop WordPress video training for our customer support front-line, as well as assisting end users with their WordPress questions and issues. I am also starting to get involved with WordPress documentation and I am currently writing about Child Themes for the official Theme Developer Handbook, which is very exciting for me since I love documentation and writing manuals. As well as writing, I love to train others on the wonders of WordPress, and I enjoy experimenting with different plugins and better ways to do things with WordPress.

Thanks for your time and consideration,
Suzette Franck 🙂
